Founded and run by the Wegmüller family since 1966, Chantemerle is a private international boarding school in Switzerland welcoming students aged 6 to 18 for academic year, language immersion, and summer programmes.

Rooted in authentic Swiss values, the school offers a high quality education in a personalized family environment. Using simplicity as our guiding principle, we teach students the value of balance, well-being, and the  culture of effort.

Swiss pathway in French

The Swiss Pathway at Chantemerle offers a continuous journey from primary through secondary education to the Swiss Matura diploma preparation.

Taught in French, the Matura is a prestigious diploma that provides direct access to Swiss public universities without entrance exams (e.g. EPFL, ETHZ, HEC St-Gallen, medical schools). The diploma is also well recognised internationally. While most of our students are Swiss, the Matura pathway is also open to international, non French speaking students through our French integration programme.

Cambridge International pathway in English

Accredited by the Cambridge International Examination Board, Chantemerle prepares students for a wide range of academic programmes including A Levels, IGCSEs, and university foundation courses.

Teaching takes place in small classes, ensuring personalised attention regular assessment and academic progress. With dedicated tutors and individual support, students benefit from a structured and flexible environment that effectively prepares them for university entry.

Intentionally small, with a small community of 45 boarding and 55 day students, we ensure personalized attention and individual care for every student.

At Chantemerle, students grow within a close-knit community, building lasting friendships and a true sense of belonging that continues through an active alumni network.  Daily life is structured around a balance of academics, hands-on activities, life skills, sports, arts, and outdoor activities.

Chantemerle Summer camp 2027

2 to 5-week sessions between June 27th and August 1st 2027: Chantemerle propose a summer programme combining a very popular learning programme with academics, sports, outdoor activities, and discovery of Switzerland.

With only 65 students, our summer camp is known for its family atmosphere and personalised support. The programme promotes healthy, balanced living, with limited screen time and plenty of opportunities for sports, arts, outdoor experiences.

Chantemerle has two campuses in the French-speaking part of Switzerland. Our boarding campus in Blonay overlooks Lake Geneva and the Swiss Alps, offering a safe and inspiring natural setting. Our campus in Vevey provides a dynamic urban environment for pre-university students. Ideally located, Chantemerle offers easy access to Lausanne and Geneva, world-class ski resorts, Lake Geneva, and Switzerland's leading universities—combining nature, culture and city life.

3. What is the youngest age accepted at Chantemerle?

Chantemerle welcomes day school students from age 6 and boarding students from age 9. Younger children benefit from a caring, family-oriented environment with small classes, personalised attention and a balanced programme combining academics, sports, arts and outdoor activities.

4. What curriculum does Chantemerle follow?

Chantemerle follows the Swiss pathway preparing for the federal Matura. Taught in French, it provides direct access to Swiss public universities, including EPFL, ETH Zurich and Swiss medical schools, and is also recognised worldwide. Students with little or no French can first join our French Language Integration Programme. Chantemerle also prepares international students for the Cambridge IGCSE & A Levels certifications.

Chantemerle offers 5-day, 7-day and flexible boarding options. Students enjoy a safe, family-oriented environment with supervised study, healthy meals, sports, cultural activities and weekend excursions, helping them grow in independence and confidence.
